The Epic Epic Mallets Story

When I bought my first gong I had no mallets, so I made some and began investigating as many different ways of coaxing (nice) sounds from it. I play the piano, so it seemed natural to have some that put separate frequency ranges in each hand. And then double mallets that you play like a Bodhran beater. And then there’s the dark arts of Flumie making…

It’s still an education. I still explore new materials, sounds and ways of playing, and following my nose, hands, ears, eyes and trusty gong.

I make each mallet to order. My daughter makes the handles for pocket money. Everything made by hand and with love x
